this topic has been well exhasted, but i am going to exhast it some more. as a gen z, i have grown up with a smart device addiction, and it has taken so many of my adult years to break this addiction. i feel so much resentment towards the state of the world and how having a smart phone is mandatory in this day and age. well, some people use dumbphones but it comes with significant inconveniance...
like a lot of people my age, i am kind of on a jounrey to resist this cultural expectation? i hate it. it pisses me off so fucking much. but on the other hand, a lot of people my age have ccompletely normalized spending disgusting amounts of time scrolling instagram or tiktok on their phones... 5-10 hours or even more. i'm afraid that when we get older we are going to look back on this behaviour with disgust and regret. wishing to get the time back. or we will still all be brain dead and controlled by big tech. i hope not.
my average screen time unfortunately is around 3 hours per day, i used this screen time calculator to see how much of my life would be spent looking at my phone if i continue this way. 7 years. YEARS. so scary. what a waste of life.
